Open African landscape at golden hour

Chapter One

South Africa

I was born in South Africa, into a country in the middle of rewriting itself. It is the kind of place that teaches you early that nothing is guaranteed, that plans are provisional, and that the people around you matter more than the systems around you.

That beginning never left me. Whatever I have built since, some part of it has always been pointed back here.

Chapter Two

New Zealand

As a child my family moved to New Zealand. Growing up between cultures does something to you. You stop assuming that the way things are done is the way things must be done. You learn to watch, to adapt, and to ask why.

I think that is where the contrarian streak started — the instinct to check the assumption rather than inherit it.

Chapter Three

Building

My working life started in the real economy: work, then business, then construction and property development. Property is an unsentimental teacher. It teaches you about leverage, timing, cost of capital, counterparties and risk you cannot talk your way out of.

Over the years that grew into a significant property portfolio, and then into investing more broadly — private businesses, public markets, and opportunities across borders. Alongside it came an MBA from Central Queensland University, less for the letters than for the frameworks.

Chapter Four

Faith, and the question underneath

Somewhere in the middle of building, the question changed. It stopped being how much can I make and became what is this actually for.

My Christian faith is not decoration on top of my work; it is the thing that reorganised it. If wealth is a tool, then the interesting question is what you are willing to build with it — and who becomes stronger because you did. Purpose comes before prosperity, in that order, or prosperity eats you.

Chapter Five

Jeffreys Bay

After years away, I came home. I live and build from Jeffreys Bay, South Africa — a small town on a coastline, deliberately far from the noise, deliberately close to the continent I am betting on.

From here I build Zenith Academy, an education platform teaching wealth with purpose. I build Ariel, a global Christian community focused on relationships, leadership and Kingdom purpose. I invest across property, businesses and public markets, and I write and speak about what I am learning while I am still in it.

Build what outlives you.

Businesses change. Projects change. Investments change. The work is to build things capable of continuing without you — wealth, people, families, institutions.
